The $15 Chargeback Fee
If a buyer disputes a payment and the dispute is decided against you, a one-time $15 fee applies.
What it is
When a buyer disputes a charge with their bank — a "chargeback" — and the dispute is decided in the buyer's favour, Stonefjord charges the seller a one-time $15 fee. It covers the cost the dispute creates for the platform.
It only applies to a lost dispute
The $15 is charged only when a dispute is resolved against you. If the buyer withdraws the dispute, or it's resolved in your favour, there is no fee. It's a flat $15 per lost dispute, whatever the order was worth.
What a lost dispute costs you
When a dispute is decided against you, two things happen. First, the buyer's bank reverses the original payment — that money goes back to the buyer, not to Stonefjord — so the sale amount comes back out of your payout. Second, Stonefjord charges the $15 dispute fee. On a $100 sale, that's $115 in total. The $15 itself is flat and doesn't change with the size of the order.
How it's collected
The fee is charged automatically to the card you have on file with Stonefjord at the time the dispute closes — you don't need to do anything. If there's no card on file the fee can't be charged, and Stonefjord records it as uncollected. Dispute fees don't appear in My Account → Billing, which covers listing charges only — the $15 shows on your card statement as a Stonefjord dispute fee.
